AMB Started Bond Purchases Within The Emergency Program Today
European Central Bank (ECB) announces the start of bond purchases within the emergency program today
The European Central Bank (ECB) announced that it has begun purchasing bonds today as part of its 750 billion euro ($ 821 billion) emergency program, prepared to address the damage of the coronavirus epidemic to the economy.
The ECB noted that Greek bonds have appropriate qualifications for buying and that “catching” purchases will not be made.
“The ECB will consider all options and possibilities to combat this unusual shock,” the bank said in a statement.
Greek bonds continued to increase after the announcement and the interest rate of 5-year bonds decreased by 40 basis points.
