Armenian Draft Adopted In US
The US House of Representatives adopted a decision of resolution to recognize the 1915 events as ‘’genocide.’’.
The draft, presented in April by Adam Schiff, the Deputy of the House of Representatives Democrat, passed the parliament with 11 “no” votes against 405 “yes” votes.
The adopted resolution has no binding effect. The House of Representatives also adopted that the draft law envisages the introduction of some sanctions on Turkey for the operation against the northeast of Turkey and Syria.
The draft, which approved with the 16 vote against 403 “yes” votes, it is foreseen that concerning Spring Peace Operations of some Turkish officials sanction, suspension of arms sales to Turkey and is due to some financial sanctions.
For the draft to be enacted, the draft must be adopted in the Senate in the same way and then approved by US President Donald Trump. Only the draft, which passed by a two-thirds majority vote in the House of Representatives, will be directly enacted without going before Trump if it gets too the same vote from the senate.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Washington Serdar Kilic, who reacted to the draft, in his Twitter account said;
“Decisions taken by the deputies in foreign country councils under the influence of known lobbies, away from historical facts, non-visionary decisions based on unbiased research and evaluation can’t defame our glorious history.”
