US President Joe Biden started his speech at the White House on the state of the supply chain during the holiday season by referring to the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
Emphasizing that the USA has the best vaccines and scientists against Covid-19, Biden reiterated that it is normal for this virus to cause concern, but there is no need to panic.
Biden said that they have taken measures against Omicron, but a new quarantine is not on the agenda.
Drawing attention to the increasing inflation in the country, Biden said, “Rising prices are a global problem right now. It is always easier to complain about a problem than solve it.”
Emphasis on ‘Santa Claus‘
Underlining that they are collaborating with the private sector to solve the supply chain problem in the USA, Biden said, “There are many products on the shelves right now, but I still cannot guarantee that people will receive the gift they want on time. Only Santa Claus can make this promise.”
Reminding that they are in the holiday season covering the end of November and December, Biden said, “We are entering the holiday season with a very good economy. This did not happen by chance. We eliminated potential crises by doing what we had to do.”
Starting with Thanksgiving, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the US, followed by Legendary Friday, when discounted shopping spreads across the country, it continues with Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, which aim to increase the sales of small businesses, and ends with Christmas and New Year’s Eve on December 31st. The ending period is called the holiday season.
