Former Microsoft CEO and founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, once again responded to the conspiracy theories that are frequently put forward about people implanting chips in his question-and-answer event on his Twitter account. Gates said, “It doesn’t make sense to me to put chips on the arms. Why would I want to do that?“
Speaking about the Omicron case, Gates said that this variant could soon be treated like seasonal flu, and explained that it will create a lot of immunity, at least for next year.
But while it’s relatively mild compared to other variants, hospitals may be flooded with large numbers of Omicron cases needing medical care, according to Gates, who also warned.
Gates also said that he thinks it is unlikely that a more infectious variant than Omicron will emerge for now, but he said, “We were very surprised at the start of the pandemic.”
Patients and medical staff are reporting longer waiting times before being admitted to hospitals, as hospitalizations for the coronavirus hit a record this week in the US.
