In the act held in front of the Brandenburg Gate in the center of Berlin, plastic and glass bottles were collected in a specially designed big shopping cart.
According to the news, the party’s Berlin State President and parliamentary candidate Havva Öruc stated that they are the party that emphasizes the issue of justice and said, “The bottles, which have been collected for 2 months and that we want to collect after the elections, will be sent to the needy and organizations who are in danger of poverty.”
Noting that the act is also being carried out on social media, Öruc said, “Symbolically, you see a shopping cart here. We are filling it. Everyone who came to this act brought their returnable bottles. Apart from that, those who cannot come here physically can send money to our deposit account. In this way, we will ensure that the money reaches those in need.”
Öruc stated that it is assumed that 16.5 of the population is at risk of poverty in Germany, and that 3.1 million children are also in poverty, noting that poverty is not always seen because people do not show it because of the feeling of shame.
Within the scope of the deposit refund system in Germany, the consumer pays the deposit fee for the beverage product purchased with the bottle, in addition to the price. When the consumer takes the empty bottle to the market, they get back the deposit they paid before. Thus, the bottles are not thrown away and are recycled.
