Facebook raises settlement to $650 million in facial recognition lawsuit
A group of users in the US has faced court on the grounds that Facebook collected and stored biometric data of millions of people without permission.
The company was charged with violating the State of Illinois’s Biometric B Interest Privacy Act. As a result of the years-long trial, Facebook agreed to pay $ 550 million in compensation last January to close the case.
The company also referred to as the social media giant, raised that amount to $ 650 million at a recent hearing.
If the deal is reached over $ 650 million, 2 million users will be paid between $ 200 and $ 450.
