In the statement made by the Ivory Ministry of Health, it was reported that Ebola was detected in an 18-year-old Guinean youth. The person in question came to the country from Labe city in Guinea by land and was treated in Abidjan.
It was also shared that the security forces working at the borders, the vulnerable groups and the health teams who came into contact with the patient will be vaccinated urgently for Ebola.
According to WHO data, there has been no recorded cases of Ebola in the country since 1994. Although Ivory Coast borders Liberia and Guinea, which experienced serious outbreaks in the 2013-2016 period, there were no cases in the country at that time.
The virus spread in West Africa in December 2013. In the epidemic that occurred in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone in 2014-2017, 30 thousand people were infected with the virus and more than 11 thousand of the patients died.
