First Monkeypox Case Detected in UAE
The first case of monkeypox was detected in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
First monkeypox case. In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a 29-year-old woman from West Africa was diagnosed with monkeypox. It was noted that the woman, who was the first case detected in the UAE, was provided with the necessary medical assistance. In addition to several dozen suspected cases currently under investigation, nearly 100 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been recorded worldwide, with no deaths reported to date.
Europe and the UK recommend vaccination and quarantine for those who have the disease
The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control recommends that all suspected cases be isolated and high-risk contacts vaccinated against smallpox, while the UK offers smallpox vaccine to high-risk contacts, recommending that anyone who may be infected be quarantined until recovery.
the World Health Organization (WHO) said, “The situation is improving and WHO expects more cases of monkeypox to be detected as surveillance expands in non-endemic countries.”
WHO estimates that there are thousands of cases of monkeypox in about a dozen African countries each year. Most of the cases are detected in Congo with about 6,000 cases per year and Nigeria with about 3,000 cases per year.
