Kuwait and Saudi Arabia Start Oil Extraction in The Neutral Zone

Fadil stated that they will also start oil extraction activities at the Hafci field based on their agreement with Saudi Arabia and that they aim to produce 250 thousand barrels per day at the wells there.
The Kuwaiti minister, who also gave a date for the start of production in the oil fields, said that they foresaw the start of production after 60 days.
The Hafci and Vefra oil fields, located in the neutral zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, have an oil production capacity of 500 to 600 thousand barrels per day.
October May 2014, Hafci due to environmental reasons, and May 2015, due to obstacles to its operation, the two countries, which are members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), closed the wells at Vefra.
Finally, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait agreed to re-extract oil after a 5-year hiatus, with the agreement signed in December 2019.
