Kuznetsov said, “According to the preliminary data available as of 11 o’clock, 16 people died as a result of the hard landing of the L-410 aircraft in the Menzelinsk region of Tatarstan, and 6 injured were being treated in health institutions by the emergency services and air ambulance teams.”
Tatarstan officials: A bird may have entered the engine of the crashed plane.
Tatarstan Menzelinsk Region Mayor Aydar Salahov stated that a bird may have entered the engine of the L-410 plane, which made a hard landing in the region, and this may have caused the engine to stop.
Speaking to members of the press, Salahov said, “According to the preliminary assessment, a bird or something else may have entered the engine. The left engine was disabled,” he said.
Earlier, the leader of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustem Minnihanov, announced that after the take-off of the plane, at 70 meters altitude, the pilots reported that the left engine was disabled and requested a forced landing permit.
