According to the Kremlin’s statement, Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi spoke by phone. During the meeting, the issues on the agenda of bilateral relations were discussed. During the meeting, which focused on commercial and economic issues, attention was paid to the construction of Egypt’s first nuclear power plant and the creation of a Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal region.
A positive evaluation was made of the level reached by the bilateral relations, and it was noted that these relations have a multi-faceted partnership and strategic nature.
al-Sisi expressed his gratitude for the effective joint efforts to ensure security at the airports in Egypt. As a matter of fact, as a result of these efforts, air transportation between Russia and Egypt was fully resumed in August.
Egypt and Russia signed a $30 billion deal to build the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, North Africa’s first nuclear power plant, as the Kremlin moves to expand its influence in the region. Egyptian Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohammed Shakir also announced that the first unit of the right equipment started to be produced in Moscow in July this year. The construction of the power plant, which will consist of four units, is expected to be completed in 2029.
