Russian Foreign Ministry: Greece is no longer a safe country for Russian tourists
Yuriy Pilipson, Director of the Fourth European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that Greece is no longer a safe country for Russian tourists.
Russian Foreign Ministry Statement: “Greece is no longer a safe country for Russian tourists”. Pilipson noted that there were numerous anti-Russian statements from Greek officials, false information was spread in the Greek press about the events in Ukraine, and Russian news sources were for a long time blocked. He claimed that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had received messages about prejudice and assaults against Russians in Greece.
Stating that the Russian Embassy in Athens and the Consulate General in Thessaloniki received complaints from the Russians that their legal rights and interests were violated, Pilipson advised his citizens to apply to the Greek law enforcement officers to punish the criminals when an incident occurred.
Pilipson added that due to the reduction in the number of Russian diplomatic personnel, the possibilities of diplomatic representations are severely restricted.
