According to the news in AA, Muraşko stated that the clinical trials of the vaccine candidate developed by the Gamaleya National Epidemiology and Microbiology Institute have been completed, and the clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Gamaleya Institute have been completed and documents are being prepared for the registration procedure.
RUSSIAN MINISTER MARKED OCTOBER
Muraşko stated that after registering the vaccine, it will be started to be made to healthcare workers and teachers and that these groups will be observed at the same time. Minister Muraşko also stressed that the Ministry of Health of Russia plans to carry out more mass vaccination since October.
2 VACCINES WILL BE READY IN 2 MONTHS
Reminding that the vaccine candidate developed by the Vektor Virology Institute is also in the clinical trial stage, Muraşko also stated that they expect an application for 2 more vaccine candidates to be tested on volunteers in the next 1.5-2 months.
THE CLINICAL TRIAL IS MADE IN 3 STAGES
In order for a vaccine to be widely used, it needs to be tested on humans in 3 stages. In the first stage of clinical trials, it is investigated whether the vaccine candidate is safe and possible side effects on a small number of volunteer healthy subjects.
In the second stage, the effectiveness of the vaccine candidate, whose reliability has been confirmed, is tested on more than 100 subjects. In the third and final stage, the same procedure is repeated with several thousand subjects. This whole process can take months or even years.
According to the World Health Organization data, as of July 28, 25 vaccine candidates against Covid-19 are in the pre-clinical development stage, and 139 vaccine candidates are in the clinical trial phase.
Emerging in China, Covid-19 has spread to more than 200 countries and regions, turning into an epidemic. Worldwide, the number of cases exceeded 17 million 780 thousand, while more than 680 thousand people died.
