According to the Kremlin’s statement, Vladimir Putin stated in a phone call with Tajikistan President Imamali Rahman that he should go into quarantine for a certain period of time due to the coronavirus cases detected in his close surroundings.
Therefore, Putin stated that he will attend the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Collective Security Council meeting to be held in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe this week, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Council meeting, and the CSTO and SCO Heads of State Joint Meeting via videoconference.
Meeting with the Russian Paralympic National Team players yesterday, Putin made a statement that he might have to go into quarantine.
“Unfortunately, there are some problems right now. Doctors are investigating. There are problems with Covid-19, even in my environment. We need to find out what is really going on. I may have to go into quarantine soon, too. Many people around me are sick,” Putin said.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Vladimir Putin has tested negative for coronavirus and is absolutely healthy. As several people in Vladimir Putin’s entourage got sick with Covid-19, the President ‘must take a responsible position and not endanger the health of his colleagues.’ The spokesman did not specify who had tested positive and said he didn’t know whether the individuals had been vaccinated.
