In the USA, the outcome of the elections is still open: the counting in important key states is ongoing. In the midst of the biggest pandemic crisis of the present, the world continues to wait for the result.
Will Trump fail to return to the White House?
Three days after election day, the result of the 2020 US presidential election has still not been determined: Joe Biden, the Democratic candidate, has so far gained a clear, but not unmatchable lead among the electorate. In several key states, the vote count has not yet been completed.
Gl-news.com shows the counting status live based on data from the US news channel CNN. The race is still open in Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. The fourth vote in Maine has not yet been assigned to a candidate. Individual US media outlets, including Trump’s high-profile channel Fox News, are already beating Biden and the fourth voice in Maine Trump in Arizona.
In the worst case, the counting could take days
For the current incumbent Donald Trump, the chances of re-election are dwindling. The Republican candidate is now also behind in terms of the number of votes counted in Georgia. If Biden wins in this State, Trump could no longer overtake him. He could then have a maximum of 269 voters – provided he wins all other states and turns the current arrears in Nevada, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. On Friday evening German time it looks like Joe Biden is getting closer and closer to winning the election. But nothing has been decided yet.
The majority in both chambers of Congress will determine the political leeway the future US president can expect in the coming years.
As it looks the day after the long election night, the decision on the presidency will be made in the last remaining states. In the worst case, the counting could take days.
