The Netherlands Stopped Using Oxford-AstraZeneca Vaccine
It has been reported that the Netherlands has completely stopped the use of the coronavirus vaccine developed by Oxford University and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
In the news in the Dutch media, the official of the Health Services Association (GGD GHOR) announced that the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine was completely stopped due to side effects and deaths in the reports.
AstraZeneca vaccine appointments were canceled and it was stated that the other Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine will continue to be administered.
It was noted that the decision was taken in consultation with the Ministry of Health and the State Institute for Health and Environment (RIVM).
The Dutch Ministry of Health first decided on March 15 to suspend the use of the precautionary AstraZeneca vaccine.
Marcel Sturkenboom, Director of the Dutch Association for Seniors (KBO-PCOB), with more than 800 branches in the Netherlands criticized the application of AstraZeneca to those over 60.
In a written statement made yesterday by the Ministry, it was announced that the administration of this vaccine for those under 60 was temporarily suspended for the second time due to side effects in 5 women who were given AstraZeneca vaccine. In the statement, it was reported that one of the women between the ages of 25 and 65 died due to a blood clot in the lung.
