Moroccan Berbers (Amazigs), who celebrate New Year’s Eve in Morocco every year on January 13, shared their traditional clothes and special dishes on social media.
Moroccan Berbers, who have been celebrating the New Year for hundreds of years in accordance with their traditions, wished that the new year would bring abundance and fertility.
Government officials also celebrate the Berber New Year.
Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch celebrated the Berber New Year with a post on his Facebook account:
“Happy 2972 new year of the Berber calendar. On this occasion, we reiterate our commitment to the implementation of the program for the Berber language, one of the main elements of Moroccan identity.”
Youth, Culture and Communications Minister Mohammed al-Mahdi Binsaid is expected to attend the concert with an exhibition to be held today on the occasion of the New Year.
