TIKIRI HAS LOST HIS LIFE
The 70-year old elephant Tikiri, who was forced to work in parades in Sri Lanka, died yesterday. The Sri Lankan Elephant Rescue Foundation reported that Tikiri, even it’s health is not good, was used in the Perahera Festival parade in August, and the 70-year-old animal later worsened and died. The Sri Lankan Ministry of Tourism returned the elephant to its owner when the photos of the animal was spread by social media. Later they gave a statement that Tikiri had been taken from the shows.
The caretaker of Tikiri posted a message for Tikiri and said ‘’Tikiri’s ordeal is over, his soul is free. Nothing can hurt him now.’’
