TRUMP EXEMPTS EUROPEAN STUDENTS FROM TRAVEL BAN
Trump administration exempts European students from coronavirus travel ban. In the statement sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lawmakers and seen by Reuters, some babysitters and visa holders will also be offered to grant exemption to their families in the USA.
These moves are seen as part of the Trump administration’s attempt to gradually re-allow international travel. President Donald Trump banned passengers from many European countries from traveling to the US in March, with the increase of corona virus cases.
The travel exemption granted by the US to European students came after the Trump administration withdrew its decision to force tens of thousands of foreign students to leave the United States, who had to take courses completely online. The withdrawal of the decision came as a result of the attempts of some leading universities and pressures of businesses and technology companies.
China, Brazil and Iran are also subject to similar travel bans, but students from these countries are not included in the US travel exemption.
