Trump is now losing Arizona too
It has been more than a week since the US presidential election – and after the first media system outlets had already approved the state of Arizona on election night, NBC and CNN are now following suit. For Trump, it is a defeat because Arizona was a stronghold of the Republicans for many years.
The newly elected US President Joe Biden has, according to other forecasts, won the election in the traditionally Republican state of Arizona. After the news agency AP and the TV broadcaster Fox News declared him the winner in Arizona last week on election night, the broadcasters NBC News and CNN are now following suit. In the state, in the southwest of the USA, there are eleven electors.
The exception was the election year 1996 when Democrat Bill Clinton won there
Arizona has long been considered a safe bastion for the Republicans. Since the election year 1952, Republican presidential candidates have almost always won there. The exception was the election year 1996 when Democrat Bill Clinton won there. Biden has already collected 290 votes for the December election meeting. Two hundred seventy of these electors are enough for a victory.
Trump currently has 217 voters. The Republican has so far refused to acknowledge his defeat in the election and claims, without providing any evidence, that there were irregularities in the voting and counting.
In the states of North Carolina and Georgia, the tight races are not yet decided
US government agencies have now also rejected the rumors that Trump had spread, according to which the presidential election had been manipulated through computer software. According to a statement issued by representatives of the Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity agency and the associations of election officers of the states, there is no evidence of this.
In the states of North Carolina and Georgia, the tight races are not yet decided. Trump is ahead. In Georgia, Biden holds a small lead. Because of the close result, the Georgia government has announced that all votes will be recounted by hand. Those responsible for the election do not expect that there will be any fundamental change in the trend.
