Jack Dorsey, one of Twitter‘s four founders and a longtime CEO, has resigned. Twitter has announced that Dorsey will be replaced as CEO by Parag Agrawal, the company’s chief technology officer.
According to the BBC Turkish, Twitter shares increased by 10% following the announcement that Dorsey would be leaving his position.Thereupon, trading in Twitter shares on the Nasdaq Exchange was temporarily suspended.

In the message he shared on his Twitter account, Jack Dorsey wrote, “I’m not sure if anyone heard, but I resigned from Twitter.”
“It is time for me to leave,” Dorsey wrote in the statement, adding that the company is “ready to move forward.” Emphasizing “great confidence” in his successor, Agrawal, and “deep gratitude for his talents, heart, and soul,” Dorsey wrote, “It is time for him to lead.”
Dorsey, 45, founded Twitter in 2006 with Biz Stone, Evan Williams, and Noah Glass. Dorsey served as CEO of both Twitter and the digital payments company Square.
Some investors want the Twitter CEO to focus solely on this role and have been pressuring Jack Dorsey to step down since last year. The news of Dorsey’s resignation was first broadcast on CNBC television and by the Reuters news agency.
